Provide CPR – HLTAID009

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

This unit applies to everyone who may be required to provide CPR in a range of situations, including community and workplace situations.

The ARC recommends that this competency is updated annually.

Our CPR training delivery options are outlined below:

Full Day Theory/Practical – Students attend a full day course (up to *3 hours) with their trainer. This course is ideal for those with limited experience or those who prefer to spend more time in the classroom refreshing their knowledge and practicing the skills involved in first aid, including practical and theory assessments. Pre-course learning is not required for those students attending a full CPR course.

Express Course – Face to Face Practical – Students complete pre-course learning and attend a shorter course of up to *1 hour with their trainer. This course is ideal for those with experience, having completed first aid training previously or for those working in the medical field.
Students attending an express course will complete the practical assessments only as it is expected they have enough experience and the completion of the pre-course learning assisted with refreshing their knowledge to prepare for the assessment.
One assessment will include the completion of an incident report form following a practical scenario. All theory assessments are completed prior to attending the assessment.

Provide Basic Emergency Life Support – HLTAID010

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies, including managing the unconscious casualty, performing CPR, controlling bleeding and managing other life threatening situations in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

This unit applies to everyone who may be required to provide an emergency response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

This unit incorporates HLTAID009 and HLTAID010

It is recommended that this course is updated every 3 years.  The ARC recommends that CPR is updated annually.

Provide Basic Emergency Life Support course is a 4hr practical course (no pre-study) and includes CPR, defib (AED), choking, drowning, bleeding, shock, anaphylaxis

No prerequisite for this course.

Basic Emergency Life Support Statements of Attainment can be emailed same day and are renewable annually.

Our Basic Emergency Life Support course satisfies 2 competency units from the Health Training Package:
HLTAID010: Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
HLTAID009: Provide CPR

Provide First Aid – HLTAID011

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to recognised and respond to life-threatening emergencies, including managing the unconscious casualty, performing CPR, controlling bleeding and managing other life threatening situations in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

This unit is the minimum requirement for First Aiders in the workplace.  Most work places require a specific number of people to successfully complete this qualification.

This unit incorporates HLTAID009, HLTAID010 and HLTAID011

It is recommended in “First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice July 2019” that a workplace first aider renew their certificate every 3 years.

The WHS Act 2011 recommends that this is updated every 3 years.  The ARC recommends that CPR is updated annually.

Provide First Aid In Education And Care Setting – HLTAID012

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults.

The unit applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.

This unit incorporates HLTAID009, HLTAID010, HLTAID011 and HLTAID012.

This course meets the regulatory requirements as stipulated by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Authority (ACECQA)
